This school year marks a new chapter of my life. My three year old daughter will be starting school and I am beyond excited! This means that I will be busier on everything about school and at the same time will have more time for other things like freelancing online or simply just to breathe and have my "me time." Last year, my son was in school for half a day from Monday through Friday while I look after my daughter 24/7. This year, my son will be in school the whole day while my daughter will be there in the morning for three hours.
My kids have never experienced having a yaya (nanny). Since my son was born eight years ago, I have become a full-time-hands-on mother. That's why we have to wait for four years before having another child. Whenever I have errands, I just ask my mother to look after them.
Since getting married and having kids, the previous summer has been so liberating for me. I had my first day-off! It's the longest time I was away from my kids. Usually, If I have a date with friends, the longest I'm away from them is only two hours. But by May, a few things have unfolded, things that I thought full-time moms could not do. I realized that a full-time mom's life need not be uninteresting because everything is up to me. Should I make it boring? Or make it exciting?
Life is short and we only live once so...DO MORE OF WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY!
